5. Brief write-up on the Programme: The doctoral research programme in Bioresources and Biotechnology has been devised to provide a highly academic, knowledge-driven environment that will create scientific talent and innovative minds capable of applying knowledge to benefit society and contribute to its welfare. It is designed to create capacities for pursuing careers in industry by imparting a wide variety of skills to students. A collaborative inter-disciplinary effort between industry and academia is envisioned wherein manpower will be trained in accordance with the changing needs of industry.

6. Eligibility:

For Faculty of Applied Sciences:
(a) M.Sc. or M.Phil. in a relevant field or equivalent.
(b) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

For Faculty of Policy and Planning:
(a) M.Sc./ M.A. / M.Phil. in a relevant field or equivalent.
(b) Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.

Candidates, who posses a B.Tech. Degree in the relevant field or equivalent, are required to have a minimum CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-point scale or 70% marks.

7. Selection Criteria: Admissions to the Ph.D. programmes are made on the basis of a Statement of Purpose, Written Test and an Interview.

10. Tentative Months related to Admissions: The Ph.D. admissions are open through the year. The pre-Ph.D. course work commences either in July or in January every year. Applications may be made keeping this in mind. All Ph.D. programmes at the University include mandatory pre-Ph.D. course work, in which students are required to attend courses which are scheduled in the semester.
