Keeping in with the National Voluntary Guidelines and its shared-value approach to sustainability, Panasonic India releases it’s first-ever Sustainability Report.
New Delhi – Panasonic, the global leader in innovation and technology, published its first Sustainability Report for India on September 4. The report entails the company’s sustainability related initiatives, performance and priorities’ going forward for fiscal 2011-12 and aptly highlights the firm’s shared-value approach to sustainability with focus on the relationship among strong economic performance, social responsibility and respect for the environment. The new report also highlighted the many awards and recognitions that Panasonic has received.
The report highlights six dimensions of sustainability that are relevant to the consumer durable industry and are of interest to the company’s stakeholders:
- Sustainability Priorities, Governance and Ethics
- Product Responsibility
- Environmental Performance
- Supply Chain
The structure of the report is aligned with the Government of India’s National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business. Issued in July 2011, these guidelines urge all businesses to become responsible towards society, so that their every action leads to sustainable growth and economic development.
This message is directly in line with Panasonic’s business philosophy articulated by the founder, Konosuke Matsushita, and is reflected in Panasonic’s core management principles. While Panasonic is dedicated to enacting these principles throughout its operations, the company is also dedicated to create and implement policies that help accurately measure and continuously improve focus on social and environmental responsibility encompassing two goals: Green Life Innovation to realize green lifestyles to enrich people’s lives and Green Business Innovation to bring forth innovation in the business styles.
