The new report also highlighted the many awards and recognitions that Panasonic has received.

The report highlights six dimensions of sustainability that are relevant to the consumer durable industry and are of interest to the company’s stakeholders:

  • Sustainability Priorities, Governance and Ethics
  • Product Responsibility
  • Environmental Performance
  • Employees
  • Supply Chain
  • Communities

The structure of the report is aligned with the Government of India’s National Voluntary Guidelines on Social, Environmental and Economic Responsibilities of Business. This message is directly in line with Panasonic’s business philosophy articulated by the founder, Konosuke Matsushita, and is reflected in Panasonic’s core management principles. While Panasonic is dedicated to enacting these principles throughout its operations, the company is also dedicated to create and implement policies that help accurately measure and continuously improve focus on social and environmental responsibility encompassing two goals: Green Life Innovation to realize green lifestyles to enrich people’s lives and Green Business Innovation to bring forth innovation in the business styles.

The publication of this report marks a major stride towards greater precision and productive engagement with Panasonic’s stakeholders reiterating our pledge towards sustainable development. The 40th anniversary year of Panasonic’s operations in India in 2012 marks further contribution to Indian society through the company’s business resources, employments and community investment while developing innovative products that meet the needs of Indian customers. With a clear vision to become the Number One Green Innovation company in the electronics industry by FY 2018, Panasonic strongly believes in designing products and solutions keeping the environment in mind.
