School of Petroleum Management, PDPU, Hosts Solar Conclave 2012

Solar Conclave 2012, hosted by SPM, PDPU, saw eminent leaders from Indian solar industry come together to discuss the challenges, regulatory scenario, investment opportunities, innovative funding models and drivers of success in the Indian solar energy sector.

PandianGandhinagar, India – Aimed at discussing the challenges, regulatory scenario and success drivers thus unveiling the investment opportunities and innovative funding models in the Indian solar energy sector, School of Petroleum Management (SPM), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU), in association with Event Partners – Gujarat Energy Research & Management Institute (GERMI), Media Partner – ThinktoSustain.com, and with other partner agencies, organized Solar Conclave 2012 on October 12.

The national level symposium was hosted in PDPU campus and Dr. Ketan Shukla, IFS, Secretary Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC), and Shri D. J. Pandian, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Energy and Petrochemical, Government of Gujarat, presided as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor, respectively.

The one-day event got eminent leaders across the value chain of solar industry on a common platform to discuss the Regulatory Framework in Solar Industry; Innovations in Financing Solar Projects; Emerging Solar Markets in India based on REC Mechanism; Roadmap, Future & Limitation of REC for India; and the ways to emulate Charanka success story. The industry stalwarts included business analysts, policy-makers, industry experts and consultants, domestic developers, institutional investors, entrepreneurs and green builders.

Delegates at Solar Conclave 2012The conclave not only ignited the young minds about the potential of solar industry but also saw sharing of new ideas and models that can be implemented to bring a sea of change in solar industry.

A national level paper presentation was organized as a part of the conclave on topics related to the solar industry. The participants were from various colleges like IIM Shillong, IIFT, Great Lakes, IEMR, IIT-Mumbai, BIM Trichy, TISS-Mumbai. Participants of SPM and Wellingkar bagged the first and second prizes, respectively. The conclave, kept open for all, saw around 100 industry delegates and students turning up, in addition to SPM and PDPU students and faculty.

The national level symposiums conducted by School of Petroleum Management have earned themselves an esteemed position in industry circles as one of the important knowledge disseminating forums for the energy industry.
