The Centre for Science and Environment, an established research and advocacy institution, needs an engineer for its Water Programme.

The programme looks into research, training and knowledge dissemination for participatory, affordable and sustainable water management paradigm – promoting water conservation and efficiency, reuse/recycle, protection of urban water bodies/lakes and mainstreaming innovative technological advances to treat sewage for source sustainability and prevent pollution, across India and South Asia.

Responsibilities: The job responsibilities would include -

• Research on scientific, technology and policy developments in wastewater treatment systems both centralized and decentralized
• Providing technical support (planning and designing) on decentralized wastewater treatment systems such as baffled septic tank, root-zone treatment, polishing pond, etc., including other natural wastewater treatment systems
• Provide support in organizing training programme / seminar for practitioners and government
• Writing and producing updates on sustainable and affordable wastewater treatment
• Maintaining databases and correspondence with policy makers, academics, consultants and NGOs working in this sector

• Professional Degree in Civil Engineering with 1-2 years experience in planning, design and implementation of wastewater treatment / management; freshers may also apply
• Knowledge of environment protection rules in particular, understanding of the compliance and monitoring of water pollution, prevention and control of water pollution will be an added advantage
• Working under high pressure and challenging deadlines will be the norm
• Competency in English speaking and writing skills is must
• Candidate must be willing to travel, network and write on issues
